Most Growth Problems Aren't Growth Problems

Most consultants stay on the outside. We work alongside your leadership team — as a real member of it. That means the same accountability, the same context, and the same commitment to outcomes as the executives sitting around the table with us.

Engagements are scoped upfront and built around what you actually need. Fractional or project-based. Strategic or operational. Heavy on finance, heavy on systems, or a mix of both. The work flexes as the business does — start where the help is most needed, expand as you grow.

When an engagement calls for deeper or specialized expertise, Michael draws on a bench of senior professionals — fellow CFOs and operating executives with experience in M&A, heavy industrial, manufacturing, technology, and real estate — assembled to fit the engagement, without the cost of full-time hires.

A Real Seat at the Table
Experience over Theory

Scaling a business is rarely linear. It requires judgment, creativity, and the willingness to refine what works as conditions change. Frameworks help, but they don't run companies — people do, and the systems they rely on have to evolve with them.

Our approach is grounded in experience, not theory. We've sat in the operator's seat, made the hard calls, and lived with the results. That perspective shapes how we help leaders clarify objectives, establish practical standards, and execute through disciplined, repeatable processes.

We're selective about who we work with because outcomes matter. If you're looking for a collaborative partner to strengthen execution, align leadership, and build the systems that make growth sustainable, we may be a good fit.

They're systems problems in disguise.

ModularCFO was founded on a simple premise: most growth problems are alignment, accountability, and systems problems disguised as financial ones. We help leadership teams identify what needs to change, align around priorities, and build the operating systems required to scale with confidence.

Leadership Team

Michael Chase brings executive-level financial and operational leadership across financial services, industrial distribution, manufacturing, technology, and construction.

Most recently, Michael served as CFO and Director of Finance & Strategy for Denham-Blythe Company, where he helped scale operations from approximately $150 million to $400 million. Prior to that, he held dual roles as CEO and CFO of The American Metal Supply Group, leading both strategic direction and financial performance.

Michael and his family reside in Louisville, Kentucky, though his daughter recently abandoned them for the University of KY. While his professional work spans industries and geographies, his perspective remains shaped by his roots along the Lowcountry waters of Charleston, South Carolina.

Specialist and Advisors

Michael has assembled a team of senior finance and operating executives — former public and private company CFOs — who support ModularCFO on a contract basis. Their experience spans M&A, heavy industrial, manufacturing, technology, and real estate.

When an engagement calls for deeper or specialized expertise, the right specialist is brought in to fit the work — without the cost or complexity of additional full-time hires.
